THE CELESTIAL ZOO

Welcome to THE CELESTIAL ZOO, a tour of 210 destinations in the vast expanse of our Universe.

This guide is designed to provide a 2-minute stay at each different cosmic landscape, with a couple of fast mindblowing facts and essential knowledge that hopefully will stick with you forever. We carefully selected the most peculiar galaxies, stars, planets, and other fluttering creatures for our vividly detailed safari.

The graphic showcases a circular master schematic of the observable universe projected on a radial logarithm with the Sun at its center. Each object in the schema has been labeled with a number for easy indexing in the surrounding text columns.

The numbers assigned to each object follow the order of their proximity to the center of the solar system, beginning with the Sun(1) and extending outward through the planets and other objects of the solar system (2-51), nearby stars (52-112), distant notable stars, star clusters, and nebulae (113-123), nearby galaxies (124-156), notable galaxies, galactic clusters, and superclusters (157-203), and finally, the most distant known objects (203-210).

The color code used in the title labels of each astronomical object corresponds to five categories: moon/asteroid/other, planets, star systems, galaxies, and large-scale objects.

The intention behind selecting the featured objects was to provide an overview of both well-known subjects familiar to the general public and lesser-known yet equally captivating ones.

This infographic is the poster component of a multi-platform project also presented in pocket tourist guidebooks and short videos on social channels. Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and TikTok, accounts will be active to disseminate the diverse and fast-changing universe of our current astronomical understanding.
As of April 2024, the poster and book have just been released in Spanish and are currently being translated into French and German. Overall, it was an exciting project for us to work on. We hope you find as much joy in exploring these materials as we did in creating them.
