The design plays on the literal and metaphorical meanings of vision by formatting the existential statement “THE MEANING OF LIFE IS ABOUT ……” as a clinical Snellen eye vision acuty chart. The joke relies on the visual pun of requiring an eye test to “see” or understand life’s purpose, while escalating the difficulty: as the philosophical message progresses, the text shrinks so drastically that grasping life’s ultimate meaning becomes as visually impossible as reading the tiny, blurred bottom lines of an optometrist’s chart.
